About the Author

I’m not a very chatty person and loud people make me nervous. Small talk makes me uncomfortable and sometimes I unconsciously make weird noises when I have no idea what to say. Do not be alarmed…I am socially awkward like that. Don’t hate.

I have a big family (complete with two German Shepherds) and often find inspiration in the musings of my eccentric genius dad. In my spare time, I like to get foot massages (yes, like an auntie), do Muay Thai and watch nigahiga and kevjumba on YouTube. Most people who know me say that I’m sort of weird (I suppose quirky or eccentric would be a nicer way of putting it), but I guess I’m happy that way. Being normal is awfully boring, don’t you think?

I left my day job in fashion marketing/PR to start my own (small but mighty) copywriting agency, Great Eight Writing and run lifestyle website scene.sg. I’m still relatively new to this and some days I’m like oh God I hope I know what I’m doing, but it’s been an interesting journey so far. Drop me an email if you have questions/comments. Or if you’re bored and want to chat (but no perverts please).

The idea of being an eccentric person is a very romantic thing. But if you really think about it, like, think really deep…..Why should being normal be boring? I like normal. How do i put this. Say there is an eccentric person, and he’s creative, intelligent, wise etc. Can you imagine how disconnected he would be from Singaporeans? How lost he can be in SIngapore society? For example, he ends up with a bunch of people who are materialistic, he’s a weirdo if he doesn’t have that sort of mindset, if he doen’t covet material. And many Singaporeans (not all) lack creativity. A guy comes out with a creative idea, if he succeeds, people says his brilliant. He fails, everyone thinks he’s crazy. This society is not very tolerant of creative ideas that fail. I think normal is good. I love normal, and i always tell normal people,”treasure your life, i’d love to have it”
